The creation of Andrea Camilleri, currently Italy’s most popular author, Salvo Montalbano is a feisty policeman who appeals to all. Several locations in Sicily have been chosen to represent Vigata, his imaginary own, for a very successful series of films based on Camilleri’s stories. Immediately recognisable will be his home on the beach at Sampieri; Donnafugata and Scoglitti where some dramatic scenes were shot; his police station at Ragusa; the office of his police chief at Scicli.
